Sometimes Life Is Not Kind

Sadly, nature can be a bit cruel.  Life for a beekeeper  has no guarantees of success no matter how hard you try or how perfect you make it for those sweet fuzzy little bees. John, the beekeeper whose hive we had visited back in May was decimated by robber bees, and the hive is completely gone. No matter how many precautions you take, or how right you do everything, we are still dealing with nature and sometimes it doesn’t work out. John noted that he has not lost his love for beekeeping and will try again with a new hive in the Spring. These are the realities that Rachael and I must face, and are very real possibilities. Lessons we must learn. I feel horrible for John, and I wish him luck with his new hive in the Spring.
