I went shopping today. My mission was Provence Lavender and Clover. The nursery was full of Spanish lavender but no Provence. I have this problem ever year. I’m not quite sure why Provence lavender is so scarce around here. I know they will eventually come in, but I’m very impatient. I have a vision of 50+ lavender plants covering my back field.

I know this quantity of plants will take a couple of years to amass and that’s where the clover comes in. Bees love clover and it’s easy and fast to grow. I was able to find White Clover seed as well as a mix of “Pollinator Flower” seeds and a couple of packets of “The Birds & Bees Sunflower” seeds.

Although not necessary, I think I’ll start my sunflower seeds in small cups. The clover and wildflower mix are going to take a lot more work. I’m going to have to decide where to plant them and prep the land for it. My back field is currently wild grass that grows very tall.

I know it's not tall right now. Hubby just mowed it this weekend.

I have to find a way prepare a plot and keep it weed/grass free. It’s going to be a lot of work! I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this project as I go along.

On a side note: my next shopping trip really needs to be for a new lens. As I was out taking the pictures for this post I saw a sweet little bee working the apple blossoms. My little 50mm lens just couldn’t get close enough to take any pictures worth sharing.
